When Shepherd’s Design Centre in Armstrong reached out about their new 7000 sq ft facility having issues with sound privacy between offices we suggested installing acoustic baffles above showroom partition walls to reduce the sound from bleeding into adjacent spaces.
The building contains a team of design professionals and showrooms for everything from countertop samples to complete kitchen setups. The problem came from the top floor’s open offices and angled ceiling, which funnels sound across the level. Our solution was to suspend acoustic ceiling baffles to absorb the sound above office partition walls while still leaving an adequate air gap for heating and cooling from a centralized HVAC.
Acoustic Panels for each office were also installed to catch some of the sound that would slip around the baffles and otherwise bounce off the back wall. The panels also help to reduce the reberation in the offices making calls sharper sounding and more intelligible.
If you’re looking for inspiration for your dream home or would like to see acoustic fabric samples in person the Home Hardware Design Centre in Armstrong is a great place to start. Below are a few pictures of the facility.
